Welcome!

Hi! I am your average 40-something wife and mom. I am also a high school teacher, and therefore I am choosing to keep my real name and image anonymous. I plan on being very personal and some things my students just don't need to know about me!

My whole life, I have been known as "The Fat Girl." In high school, I was labeled as nice and quiet. I always figured I was too fat to be popular. (Ugh, what I wouldn't give to be "fat" now like I was in high school!) After high school, I became the nice, funny, fat girl with skinny friends. Guys always looked at them first. Every time I was crushing on a guy, guess who got them? Yup, my skinny BFF. Even when I started dating my now husband, his cousin and friends told him, "Well at least she is pretty, she can always lose the weight." Jokes on them, I GAINED 60 pounds my first year of marriage! Which brings me to my PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) diagnosis. I have been battling it for 20 plus years, and it is hell. Physically, emotionally, and mentally. Since August I have been determined to take control of my life and health and beat this PCOS once and for all. But it is not easy, and it is definitely a learning process. With this blog I am going to share my journey of taking control of my life and learning to feel better and be happy again. I am sure I will make a lot of mistakes along the way, but I am just the average 40-something, mom, wife, teacher, person, remember. My life is crazy and hectic and can be chaos. But I pledge to try and make time for me, for self-care, and to attempt to calm the chaos a little. By getting healthier, I am of course hoping to lose weight, but my main objective is to not look good in a bikini, but instead to just be as healthy as I can. To have normal cholesterol levels, to get off of blood pressure medication, to stop my pre-diabetes in its tracks, to get rid of the hair on my chin and get more of it on my head. To just FEEL better and have more energy and more self-confidence. Instead of being known as the "fat girl," I will be proudly known as the "phat girl!" Fabulous, fun, curvy, proud, sexy, full of life, and confident!
